New Kia Stinger

The flagship of the Kia sedan lineup, the new Kia Stinger is like no other on the road today. Providing the perfect balance of power and refinement, this luxury sports sedan exerts an exhilarating ride unlike any other. The Kia Stinger GT is the new grand tourer that'll take you farther, faster. Truly an international offering, the Kia Stinger was designed in Frankfurt, used the famed German Nurburgring racetrack as a development center, and finally, built in Gwangmyeong, South Korea and Kaliningrad, Russia.

Stinger Performance

Based on the Kia GT Concept first unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2011, the Kia Stinger is a true gran turismo car with gorgeous lines direct from the Frankfurt design studios. While power is prevalent, it's not the end-all. Spirited long-distance driving is directly in the Stinger's wheelhouse, but Kia designers say the journey is just as important as the destination.

But perish the thought: this Stinger is anything but a wallflower. Powered by a buyer's choice of 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged four-cylinder Theta II engine producing 255 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, it is capable of a 0-60 run of 5.9 seconds. But for those who feel some is never enough, there is the 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 Lambda II producing 365-horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque that's good for a 0-60 mph run in 4.7 seconds. It's so powerful that it will hit a top speed of 167 mph before a speed governor kicks in.

Standard features on the base Kia Stinger include the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS), front seat side-mounted airbags, first and second row overhead airbags, airbag occupancy sensors, 18" aluminum wheels, cruise control, and much more.

That "much more" includes amazing looks as well: From the front clip, comprised of everything north of the windshield, to its well-shaped flanks and its muscular haunches or hips at the rear, the look is of total confidence. And passion.

The base Kia Stinger offers a passive suspension that provides a balance between comfort and performance. Step up to the GT trim level and you'll take advantage of Kia's first continuously damping electronically-controlled suspension known as Dynamic Stability Damping Control (DSDC). Using vehicle sensors, the system firms or softens the Stinger's suspension depending on road conditions and driver inputs. Available also in rear or all-wheel-drive configurations, with variable front to rear bias, GT2 models can take advantage of an available multi-plate limited slip differential to help distribute torque to the left or right of the vehicle.
