The new Kia Carnival is designed to appeal to a new breed of buyers who like SUVs but prefer the convenience of minivan designs. Penned at the Kia Design studios in California and built by one of the most successful brands in recent history, the new Kia Carnival takes the best of the minivan and combines it with the best of the SUV to make a new and versatile multi-purpose-vehicle. Carnival is the replacement for the outgoing Kia Sedona. One look, and it's clear to see the Carnival is ready to push the envelope for the brand.

The Kia Carnival is a next-level Multi-Purpose-Vehicle. This new replacement for the Sedona resulted from finding that Kia designers weren't content to congratulate themselves for a job well done. The result is a new MPV that carries up to eight passengers. But it's not just about moving people. Loaded with innovations onboard, the Carnival makes living with such a vehicle easy. It's also the first Kia product to proudly sport the brand's new logo on its steering wheel, sculpted hood and rear hatch. Think about it: The new Kia Carnival breaks as much new ground as the new Kia K5 did for sports sedans.

The new Kia Carnival gets its motivation from a Hyundai Group 3.5-liter GDI V6 engine mated to a precision-engineered 8-speed automatic transmission (BTW: Hyundai Group is Kia's parent company). This naturally-aspirated V6 is a gasoline-fed direct-injected engine that produces a best-in-class 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. When properly-equipped with a tow package, the Carnival can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

Utilizing the same platform as the sporty Kia K5 and the new Sorento, the Kia Carnival features expanded use of hot-stamped parts for extra tensile strength and chassis rigidity. Through increased use of sound-absorption materials, designers have managed to minimize wind, road and engine noise. It results in a better overall driving experience, lighter vehicle weight and improved drive dynamics. This aero-tuning results in an overall reduction of Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) in this new vehicle.

The new Kia Carnival is loaded with innovation, both under and on the skin. The body has even been aerodynamically-tuned to smooth out the airflow over the front wheels and outside mirrors. This exercise results in better fuel economy and reduced turbulence around the front end of the vehicle.
